The Challenge: Developing and Launching Early Learning Application

Southwestern Advantage, a summer sales company and part of the Southwestern Family of Companies, was midway through development on Skwids, an early learning app for very young children. Designed to keep kids engaged in their critical early learning years, the app featured multiple learning paths with high-touch interaction.

After 2 and a half years of development, the company was on a deadline to launch in spring of 2025. During that time, though, Southwestern had seen high turnover in their original offshore development team, which caused repeated onboarding and slowed progress. Sam Gleason, Product Development Manager at Southwestern, describes that, “The speed of the development was much slower than expected, and the quality of what was being produced was also not what we hoped it would be,”

With the spring 2025 deadline approaching, the state of development, and current bandwidth considered, Southwestern Advantage knew they would need additional resources.

That's where we came in.

THE SOLUTION

We needed to get Skwids across back on schedule and achieve the vision Southwestern had initially hoped for.

The Technical Requirements:

Cross Platform: Skwids was required to function on multiple devices.

  • Varying operating systems. Android, iOS, Amazon, macOS, Windows
  • Varying device sizes and resolutions.
  • Varying device types, mobile and desktop

Microsoft .Net MAUI

The development framework was Microsoft .Net MAUI, a multi-platform UI framework for building both mobile and desktop applications that leverages a single shared codebase for all platforms.

Microsoft Azure DevOps

The integrated platform used for all phases of the development lifecycle, including Workitem management, source control, code reviews, and deployment pipelines.

Microsoft Teams

The collaboration platform used to provide seamless communication between team members in various time zones.

QA Support

Device coverage and the ability to QA across various devices, not just the physical ones, that Southwestern had in-house.

  • Provide work item tracking through the entire lifecycle and provided feedback to developers on issues.
  • Manage the flight of test and production builds after development was completed for the required set of features.
  • Use LambdaTest for testing multiple devices, both simulated and physical devices.
THE SOLUTION

A True Partnership

The collaboration went beyond just technical solutions. It was a true partnership, one that Southwestern describes as feeling like Provisions Group was “part of their own team.”

One key highlight from Southwestern was how the team at Provisions Group took ownership of solving issues, digging into the “bedrock” coding problems, rather than just patching surface issues. “He peeled away those layers to find the root coding issue, resolved it there, and then added the layers back on... Most people just look for patching solutions on the surface, rather than troubleshoot deeper to ensure the coding issue is really resolved,” says Janet Sweet, Director of Product Development at Southwestern.

Another area of partnership Provisions Group provided was in team coverage and client care. We ensured continuous coverage, even when team members were unavailable. Project coordination from Provisions Group made sure that Southwestern’s needs for reinforcement were met immediately.

The Results:

The early learning app reached the finish line to launch by the spring 2025 deadline, and additional high-priority engagement features are being further developed into Fall 2025.

The result went beyond just checking off the launch to-do list. It also restored confidence in the progress and integrity of the development.

“PG helped us get our app back on schedule, and we were definitely impressed with the quality of their work,” says Sam

When Southwestern Advantage connected with us, they didn’t just get extra hands. They got a partner who owned the challenges with them, dug into the hard problems, and kept progress moving even when obstacles popped up.

That’s what PG360 is built for. It’s not about quick fixes; it’s about building the kind of trust and momentum that gets you across the finish line. Connect with us today if your project could benefit from a partnership like this.

Some clients think of it as a full-service extension of their team. Some clients think of it as insurance. We think of it as the smartest way to never slow down.

“I honestly do praise Provisions Group and one of the reasons I would work with them again is because they really felt like they were part of our team and it really was a total solutions support.”
